The Harmony on the Sound Chorus (HOTS) is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide. The four-part a cappella chorus has won the North Atlantic Region 1 (New England) Chorus Competition 15 times, and it will be representing Region 1 in Sweet Adelines' International Competition in Las Vegas in October.

With a hope to introduce itself to potential new members, and to raise funds, the chorus has a pair of special events this month.

First, women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to Harmony on the Sound Chorus's Guest Night on Wednesday, March 29, from 7 to 10 pm. The event will be in the new parish hall of St Nicholas Antiochian Church, 5256 Park Avenue in Bridgeport.

Guests will be invited to meet current members of HOTS, whose chorus currently counts 93 members from more than 30 towns in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and Florida.

The organization of women has a goal of empowering women of all ages through education, performance, and competition. Ranging in age from 25 to 85, each of them is encouraged to share their personal knowledge with other members through administrative and musical channels, while continuing their own growth by learning from other members and the many educational events offered by Sweet Adelines International.

Sweet Adelines International is a musical force in the United States and around the world. Founded in 1945, it is the world's largest music organization for women. Its mission is to advance the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.

Then on Friday, March 31, HOTS will be presenting a Bunco Night Fundraiser at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown. Doors will open at 6, play will begin at 6:30, and the evening will include games of Bunco with prizes and raffles, as well as a performance by Harmony on The Sound Chorus, and refreshments. Guests are welcome to BYOB.

Tickets are $25, and reservations are required. Send email to montec13@gmail.com for details and reservations.
