Memorial services for Rita Arlene (Schirmer) Platt, 87, former resident of Danbury and Newtown, who died February 10 in Melbourne, Fla., will take place Saturday, March 19, at 11 am, at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street North, Southbury. She was born in Danbury, November 11, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Marion (Ridgeway) and Edward Schirmer.

She married Gordon W. Platt of Newtown, and was a resident of Newtown from the time of her marriage in 1947 until she moved to Florida.

Sons Gordon Platt, Jr, of Bronx, N.Y., Edward Platt and Donald Platt, both of Melbourne, Fla., John Platt, and his wife Diane, and Gary Platt, and his wife Maria, all of Southbury; seven grandchildren, Phillip Platt, Jonathan Platt, Jacob Platt, Tanya Maguire, and her husband Brian, Katie Platt, and Sean Platt, all of Southbury,and Kevin Newman, and his wife Amber, of Latham, N.Y.; and three great-grandchildren survive Mrs Platt.

Besides her husband, her daughter Virginia Newman, and grandson Steven Platt predeceased her.
