Newtown Recovery Project Slates Newest Parent Forums

The Newtown Public Schools Recovery Project has slated its next parent forums, which will take place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown Middle School, Hawley Elementary School, and Reed Intermediate School.

Each forum will be presented twice, once during the school day and in the evening, to allow for maximum participation. Forums run for one hour.

The Sandy Hook School Parent Forum, “Helping Manage Challenging Behaviors and Conversations with Your Child,” is set for Monday, March 24. It will be facilitated by Dave Cribbins, LCSW, with the Clifford Beers Clinic and a Sandy Hook School-based clinician.

The forum will be presented at 2 and 6 pm. Both sessions will be held in the school’s lecture hall.

The NMS Parent Forum, “Video Games: Impact and Addiction,” will be on Wednesday, March 26. It will be facilitated by Mark Augustine, LMFT, and Carol Greeley, LPC, both of Wellmore Behavioral Health. Ms Greeley is also a middle school-based clinician.

The sessions will be at 9 am and 6 pm in the middle school’s conference room (B-6).

The Hawley Elementary School Parent Forum, “Tips for Managing Sibling Rivalry,” will be on Thursday, March 27. It will be facilitated by Rosa Baldino, MSW, of Wellmore Behavioral Health and a Hawley school-based clinician, and Leanne Fuccillo, Hawley school counselor.

The forum will presented  10 am and 6 pm. The morning session will be held in the school’s reading lounge, and the evening session will be held in the school’s library.

The Reed Intermediate School Parent Forum, “Spring Forward! Ideas and Programming Suggestions to Enjoy Summer,” will be facilitated by Genia Brockett, LMFT, of Wellmore Behavioral Health and a Reed school-based clinician. It will be offered at 9:15 and 6 pm.

The morning session will be held in the school’s cafetorium, and the evening session will be in the school’s media center.

Representatives from summer school, Newtown Continuing Education’s SMART program, Newtown Parks & Reaction department NYA Sports & Fitness Center will also be present for this Parent Forum.
