The Western Connecticut Business Volunteer Council (WCBVC) is a coalition of businesses in the greater Danbury area that provides leadership on meeting community needs through business and employee volunteerism. The purpose of the WCBVC is to make it easier for corporations and businesses to encourage their employees to volunteer.

The Western Connecticut Business Volunteer Council has three major community action projects:

Spring Buddy Baskets for low-income preschool children are filled with recreational and educational items. This project has served more than 4,000 children since it began in 1998.

The Back to School Clothing Drive supplies backpacks, school supplies and gift certificates to children in need. This project has served more than 3,200 since its beginning in 1992.

Thanksgiving Challenge provides food and/or fruit baskets to low-income seniors and families. This project has served 715 individuals over the last four years.

Membership is open to all Western Connecticut businesses with membership dues based on the size of the company. The annual BVC Community Breakfast is open to the entire community for $25 per person. Membership is not required to attend the breakfast.

The Western Connecticut Business Volunteer Council is a program of The Volunteer Center serving Western Connecticut. The Volunteer Center enhances the quality of life in the community by providing a connection of people to volunteer opportunities and to provide education and training to support non-profit organizations.

For more information about the breakfast, contact Patti Cohen-Hecht at the Volunteer Center, 797-1154.
