The CCS Chamber Singers, an a cappella subset of the larger chorus, will sing “All My Trials” arranged by  Norman Luboff, “Brother James’ Air” arranged by Gordon Jacob, and “Deep Peace” by Bill Douglas. The highlight of the event will be the chorus presenting Franz Josef Haydn’s Missa Brevis Hob. XXII:7, B-Flat Major, St. Joannis de Deo, Kleine Orgelmesse (“Little Organ Mass”).

Organ accompaniment will be provided by Linda Sweetman-Waters from New Jersey, who has worked with Connecticut Choral Society for many years, and whose talents have delighted audiences around the globe.

The concert is being presented to call attention to the services GWIM provides to the greater Waterbury community, including the food pantry, soup kitchen, and the resource center, all of which are housed at St John’s Church.

GWIM is a non-denominational, faith-based, 501c(3) non-profit organization that serves the disadvantaged people living in the Waterbury community. Its mission is to feed the hungry in a respectful and dignified manner, to empower the homeless and underprivileged to become self-sufficient, and to provide hope and opportunity to those in need.

The Food Pantry provides more than 140,000 meals per year and the Soup Kitchen serves more than 70,000 meals per year. The Resource Center is a grassroots, multi-faceted program of counseling, case management, and outreach services designed to answer clients’ immediate and long-term needs.

Connecticut Choral Society, also a 501c(3) non-profit organization, is comprised of more than 60 auditioned singers from 19 area towns. Founded in 1980, CCS is committed to providing a music resource for Connecticut, encouraging the singing and performance of choral music of high artistic quality, and stimulating greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music. The group performs locally several times each year and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, toured internationally and performed on network television.

Tickets are $20, $10 for youth 18 and under, and will be available at the door. St John’s Church is at 16 Church Street. Call the church at 203-754-3116 or visit CTChoralSociety.org for additional information.
