Two Charges

Police report that they stopped motorist Alex Kenyhercz, 21, of Southbury on South Main Street late on the morning of March 20 for an automotive violation.

After investigating, police charged Kenyhercz with driving while under suspension and with driving with defective brake lamps. Police released Kenyhercz on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 4.

DUI Arrest

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Bradford Deicke, 21, of Erin Lane went to the police station on the morning of March 20 and was charged with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn, police report.

Police said that Deicke was driving a vehicle on January 8, near the intersection of Erin Lane and Great Ring Road, when it collided with a tree. Following the accident, police investigated and then applied for a warrant, which they obtained from Danbury Superior Court.

After processing the case, police released Deicke on a written promise to appear in court on April 4.

Hawleyville Crash

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Mt Pleasant Road about 2:54 pm March 18.

Police report that motorist BJ Oberndor, 17, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Mazda 3 sedan southward on Hawleyville Road, struck the rear end of a 2006 Subaru B-9 Tribeca, which was driven by motorist Kathleen Lee Nostrand, 49, of 31 Taunton Ridge Road. At the time, the Subaru was waiting at a traffic signal on southbound Hawleyville Road, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Oberndor and Nostrand to Danbury Hospital for observation and treatment, police said. Hawleyville firefighters went to the accident.

Police issued Oberndor a written warning for following too closely.

Signs Gone

Police report the apparent theft of some commercial signs owned by the business known as Windowland, of 3 Simm Lane.

Sometime between 5 pm on March 14, and 9:30 am on March 15, someone apparently stole commercial signs owned by that company, which were positioned at the intersection of South Main Street and Simm Lane, at the intersection of South Main Street and Botsford Hill Road, and also at Exit 11 of Interstate 84, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on who removed the signs to contact investigating Officer Todd Dingee at 426-5841.

Hyundai Vs Dodge

Motorist Ryan Cook, 31, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck on eastbound Berkshire Road about 1 pm March 19, stopped and was waiting for traffic to clear, when the Dodge was struck from behind by an eastbound 2003 Hyundai Sonata driven by Vilma Cassone, 48, of 15-A Botsford Hill Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Cassone for following too closely.

Berkshire Road

About 7:30 am March 18, motorist Edward Clark, 27, of Monroe, who was driving a 1997 Mercury Sable sedan westward near 41 Berkshire Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which he was struck from behind by westbound motorist Silverio Fernandez, 23, of 76 Church Hill Road, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, police said.  

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Fernandez an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Church Hill Road

Police report an accident involving two sport-utility vehicles near 22 Church Hill Road about 1:17 pm March 21.

As motorist Melissa Carroll, 17, of 45 Yogananda Street, who was driving a 2000 Honda CRV, was attempting to turn left from a driveway at 22 Church Hill Road and onto westbound Church Hill Road, motorist Cynthia Pedalino, 44, of 6 Grace Moore Road was driving a 2006 Lexus RX-330 eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Carroll received an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Mt Pleasant Collision

Motorist Elizabeth Castillo, 26, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1992 Ford Bronco, was exiting a parking lot at 115 Mt Pleasant Road about 3:06 pm March 21, when the Ford collided with a 2001 Toyota Camry being driven westward on Mt Pleasant Road by motorist Michelle Naraynanan, 17, of 14 Hanover Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Castillo an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

Vandalism

Police report that on March 10 the door on the press booth at the athletic field behind Hawley School at 29 Church Hill Road was found to be vandalized. Police ask anyone with information on the case of third-degree criminal mischief to contact Officer Todd Dingee at the police station at 426-5841.

School Bus

Police report a three-vehicle accident involving a school bus that happened about 4:36 pm on March 24 near 51 Berkshire Road.

The bus carried no school children. There were no injuries.

Southbound motorist Leigh Snellback, 16, of 201 Sugar Street, who was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme sedan, stopped and was waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so that she could make a left turn into a driveway at 51 Berkshire Road, police said.

Southbound motorist Donna Kakadeles, 48, of 77 High Rock Road, who was driving a 2005 Lincoln LS sedan, then stopped behind the Oldsmobile, police said.

Driver Donald Bauch, 48, of 18 Paugussett Road, who was driving a 2004 Freightliner FS-65 school bus southward, then struck the rear end of the Lincoln, pushing the Lincoln into the rear end of the Oldsmobile, police said.

Police issued Bauch an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. The bus is owned by MTM Transport.

Rear-Ender

Police report a two-SUV collision near 138 South Main Street about 4:36 pm March 25.

Motorist Robyn Cologna, 45, of 4 Castle Lane, who was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition southward on South Main Street, came to a stop for stopped traffic, after which the Ford was struck from behind by a southbound 2001 Jeep Cherokee driven by Geoffrey Preston, 26, of Milford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Preston an infraction for following too closely and for an automotive insurance violation.
