Parenting Programs
âPARENTING IN THE TEEN ZONEâ â Attention parents of middle and high school students. Does it seem like an alien has taken over the body of your teen or almost teen? If you answered âyes,â the âTeen Zoneâ program may be for you. On April 3, 10, 17, 24, and May 1, from 7:30 to 9 pm, the St Rose Parish Nurse Ministry will once again host this informative and enjoyable series. Open to the public, it will be held in the Msgr. Conroy Room of the school. Cost is $25 per person or $35 per couple.
One of NYSâs Parenting Teachers will also come to your home and present either one of the programs. So, if you can get six to eight people together, we would be happy to work with you.

April 5 â âGetting Off On The Right Footâ presented by the NHS Youth Advisory Board (YAB). Informational video presentation and discussions ranging from the various activities available and high school myths will be part of the program. Bring all your questions!
April 12 â âSo, You Want to Be a Vet?â This program will be offered by Dr Neal Warner, Newtown Animal Clinic. We will tour the clinic and learn exactly what is involved in the day of a vet. Limit 10. FILLED â WAITING LIST AVAILABLE.
April 19 â âSit, Stay, Down, Good Dog!â presented by Pam Kochuba, dog breeder and trainer. Come and work with various age dogs and learn what type of care each requires. Limit 10. FILLED â WAITING LIST AVAILABLE.
April 26 â âLess Is Moreâ presented by Dale Meier and Katie Moser. Weâll talk about skin care products, hair care and appropriate make-up application. One lucky girl will receive a makeover. Limit 20.

Community Events
THE ANNUAL NYS TALENT SHOW will be held on Friday, May 12, at 7 pm in the Middle School auditorium.
INDEPENDENT LIVING WEEK â 2000 â In a joint venture, CT AARP and CYSA (Connecticut Youth Service Association) will be going to the homes of senior citizens, on Saturday, May 6, to perform simple chores or safety checks. Connecticut is the only state in the country using an intergenerational theme. Members of the HS and MS Youth Advisory Boards, sponsored by NYS, will be participating, but we need all the hands we can muster. Teams will be made up of youth and adult volunteers. If you know of a senior who would like some help or you would like to participate please call the NYS office at 270-4335.
Youth Group Meetings
The High School Youth Advisory Board (HS YAB) will hold a special meeting on Monday, March 27, at 6:30 pm.
The Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) will next meet on Tuesday, April 11, in the MS Teachersâ Lunch Room. The meeting will begin at 3:45 pm.
