Occupation: I am a dance instructor at the Lathrop School of Dance. I started dancing here when I was 3 years old, in 1989, and started teaching in 2003.

Family: My mom and dad are Cathy and James, from Newtown. I have two older brothers, Jay and Daniel, who live in Texas. My little brother is Michael, and he is still in Newtown.

Pets: I have two cats, Max and Molly. Their mother and father live with my parents, so we have the whole family. They are rescue cats.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I was born in Bridgeport and grew up here. I lived here my whole life, until just last year when I moved to New Milford. I graduated from New Hope Christian Academy in Danbury in 2004 — now its Faith Prep in New Milford — and then I attended WestConn and graduated in 2008 with a marketing degree.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love watching NCIS with my mom. I go to her house every Tuesday night to watch it. I like going for walks, and hanging out with my friends. If my church does a Christmas or Easter play, I’ll take part in that. I love to go out dancing, or course, and I like to read, too.

Do you have a favorite book? I like all of the Nicholas Sparks books. When a new one comes out, I always get it for Christmas.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I like to try different places. But about five years ago, I went to Croatia. My boyfriend is from there. It’s so pretty and different. They have everything, from mountains to water.

What is the best thing about Newtown? There are not a lot of places like Newtown, with the fields and farms and the homey feel. The ice cream from the Creamery is fantastic. I love the historic feel, and the Edmond Town Hall, with its $2 movies. And I’ve been dancing here forever.

Who has been the greatest influence on your life? I would say Mrs Lathrop [founder of Lathrop School of Dance] and Miss Diane [director of Lathrop School of Dance]. They brought dance to me, and this is my life.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Have fun. Don’t take life too seriously.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Probably sweets, really bad. I’ll eat straight frosting, and chocolate — forget it. I don’t think there’s a sweet I don’t like.
