Housatonic Valley Waldorf School students presented their eighth grade projects for their fellow students on March 13 and for parents and members of the school community on March 14.

Each year, eighth graders at the school are tasked with choosing a project to study throughout the school year. Students work with a mentor, then they present their culminating project, according to the school.

Students in this year’s eighth grade class, taught by Laura Wittmer, chose a range of topics to study. Esther Yu studied Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), Rose Bertram studied yoga, Daschel Knuff studied the science of laughter and the art of comedy, Tristan Counter studied cultural culinary arts, Helena de Castro studied portraiture, Alice Blyn studied welding, Beckett Reynolds studied parkour, Madeleine Abramson studied tap dancing, and Isabelle Redpath studied Scottish Gaelic.

Before the eighth graders presented their projects on March 13, Ms Wittmer introduced the students by saying, “You know how hard the eighth graders have worked.” Then, one-by-one, the students spoke about their projects and what they had learned while studying their topics.
