Aztec Two-Step Next Guest Artist For Flagpole Radio Café

The Flagpole Radio Café returns on Saturday, April 30, at 7 pm, to the stage of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown. This month's guest artist will be Aztec Two-Step.flagpoleproductions.org.On The Road.Living in America received the New York Music Award for Best Folk Album and was named in Billboard's year-end critic's poll. Praised in major media outlets such as Rolling Stone, and having appeared on numerous TV and radio shows such as The Late Show With David Letterman, King Biscuit Flour Hour and World Café Live, Aztec Two-Step was the subject of a PBS documentary in 1999.Days of Horses, The Boston Globe said "fans of the duo's harmony-driven tunes and easygoing acoustic guitar riffs will recognize their James Taylor-meets-Simon & Garfunkel sound. Flagpole Radio Café Producer Martin Blanco remarked: "We've wanted to have Aztec Two-Step participate in the show for a number of years now and we're so happy to finally present this outstanding duo.

"Their contributions to acoustic music are legendary and they are rightly considered to be one of acoustic music's most respected, enduring acts," he added.

Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman have spent a lifetime of making music together as the duo Aztec Two-Step. Their story is intertwined with the history of folk/rock in America. Aztec Two-Step took their name from a poem by beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and with four plus decades as staples of progressive FM radio, major record deals and continuous touring, Mr Fowler and Mr Shulman continue to impress audiences with intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic lead guitar and soaring two-part harmonies.

Aztec Two-Step has performed worldwide and has enjoyed durability through critical acclaim coupled with popular appeal.

Since 1971, Fowler and Shulman have been writing and performing songs that helped make their generation's musical memories. From early in their career, Fowler and Shulman were often compared with Simon and Garfunkel because of their "East Coast sensibility" and beautiful harmonies.

The Flagpole Radio Café is an evening of engaging music and compelling comedy performed by an ensemble of local artists. The ensemble comprises musicians Jim Allyn, Rick Brodsky, Howie Bujese, Greg Burrows, Dick Neil and Francine Wheeler, and actors Martin Blanco, Barbara Gaines, Kate Katcher, and David Wheeler.
