Booth Library Invites Community To Celebrate April With Poetic Journey Through Fairfield Hills
In honor of April as Poetry Month, C.H. Booth Library is excited to announce the launch of its first Poetry Walk at Fairfield Hills Campus, a fusion of literary finesse and scenic tranquility aimed at celebrating the timeless art of poetry.
Throughout the month, visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of the picturesque Fairfield Hills landscape, embellished with an array of poems thoughtfully displayed on signs. The immersive experience invites reflection and connection with nature, as well as the written word, providing a perfect backdrop to the verses that have been selected to resonate with a diverse audience.
The Poetry Walk is designed to be an inspiring journey, encouraging participants to explore the beauty of both poetry and the surroundings. A detailed map of the poem locations is available on the library’s website (chboothlibrary.org), ensuring visitors can fully engage with this unique literary display.
To further celebrate this cultural event, the library will host a Poetry Walk reception on Sunday, April 7, at 3 pm, in the meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street. The gathering will be an opportunity for the contributors to recite their submitted works and share their passion for poetry with the community. Light refreshments will be served, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere.
C.H. Booth Library Director Jennifer Nash says the Poetry Walk is “a testament to the power of words and the outdoors to heal, inspire, and bring people together.
“We are thrilled to offer this experience to the Newtown community and invite everyone to partake in the beauty of poetry amidst the splendor of Fairfield Hills,” she added.
Sunday afternoon’s event is open to the public and free of charge, as is the ongoing presentation at Fairfield Hills. C.H. Booth Library encourages families, friends, and readers of all ages to participate in the enriching literary event that promises to leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
