Legal Strategies While Aging

St Rose of Lima Church Outreach Ministry and Visiting Angels will be hosting a seminar on "Plan, Prepare and Protect - Legal Strategies as We Age, Part 2." This workshop will focus on planning to ensure financial and personal affairs will be handled when you are not capable.Connecticut magazine.

Attorney Ann Fowler-Cruz will present and discuss on topics such as legal documents which should be reviewed or created with the aging process in mind: Power of Attorney, Advanced Directives, Living Will and DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate directives).

She will also discuss how to prepare one's estate to minimize taxes and delay. Proper titling of assets to accomplish these goals; will vs trust as well as strategies for protecting assets in the event of longterm care; and the use of trusts, life estate and annuities will also be covered.

Ann Fowler-Cruz is an elder law attorney who has been advocating for the elderly and the disabled for two decades. She has the distinction of being a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation and was named a 2013 Connecticut Super Lawyer by

Ms Fowler-Cruz's elder law practice focuses on long-term care planning, asset preservation strategies, Medicaid applications, VA benefits, disability planning, utilizing conservatorships/guardianship and special needs trusts.

This seminar is free to the community and will be presented Tuesday, April 12, at 6:30 pm. It will be at the St Rose of Lima Holy Innocents Faith Formation Center, 38 B Church Hill Road.
