Middle Gate Names Its Reflections Participants, Winners

Middle Gate Elementary School recently announced the names of its 2015-16 Reflections program participants and winners.

This year's theme for the PTA contest was "Let Your Imagination Fly."

Twenty-four students submitted 30 entries at Middle Gate into the six different contest categories: music, dance, literature, photography, film, and visual arts.

Nine first-place entries from Middle Gate went on to compete at the state competition, where four entries won in film, photography, and literature, according to the school.

Winners from Middle Gate's level of the competition were named for the different categories and age groups. Visual arts winners for primary age were Katharine Allen in first place for her "Bananas Out For Ice Cream" entry, Atley Ammerman in second place for "The Flying Heart," and Emily Sachs in third place for "The Kindness Board." Visual arts winners for the intermediate age were Nicholas D'Amico in first place for "Imagination In Slow Motion," Jessica Powers in second place with "Imagination," and tied for third place were Maya Raslan for the "Joyful Lizard" and Brianna Deierlein for the "Imaginations Of An Indoor Cat."

Winners at Middle School in the literature category for the for primary age were Mallory Angelovic in first place for "Jolly," and Kieran Garrity in second place with "The Grand Slam." Winners in the literature category for the for intermediate age were Brianna Deierlein in first place with "When I Close My Eyes," Madison Thoesen in second place for "Just Imagine," and Jessica Powers in third place with "Candy!"

Winners at Middle School in the photography category for the for primary age were Nathaniel Hoag in first place for "Emerging Mustang," and for the intermediate age Jillian Hoag earned first place for "Leaves Dancing in the Wind" and Jessica Powers earned second place for "Flying By."

For the dance choreography category at the school level for the intermediate age Sadie Baimel took first place with her entry, "If You Could Give Award Your Life To Others…" and Stella Rankin took second place for her "Hello" entry.

Jessica Powers earned first place for "I Wish" in the music composition category at the intermediate age level.

For the film production category for the intermediate age at the school level of the competition, Brianna Deierlein earned first place for the "Let Your Imagination Fly" and Morgan Costallos earned second place for "Let Your Imagination Fly A Child's Dream."

At the state level of the competition, Mallory Angelovic's "Jolly" earned third place in literature, Nathaniel Hoag took third place for his "Emerging Mustang" photography entry, Jillian Hoag earned third place for her age group photography entry "Leaves Dancing In The Wind," and Brianna Deierlein earned second place for the "Let Your Imagination Fly."
