Joan Mershon Currier, 63, of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of Nicholas Currier, died peacefully, at home, April 8. Born in Balboa, Calif., the daughter of Elizabeth and John Mershon, she attended school at Eastern Connecticut State University and The University of New York in New Paltz.

Ms Currier celebrated a long career in midwifery in Connecticut, pioneering the movement, and delivering over 400 children.   

In addition to her husband of 26 years, her children Sean, Lan, Adam, and Jeremy of Sandy Hook; her brothers John Mershon of Mystic and Lan Mershon of Medford, N.J.; and, her grandchildren Nantah, Dovlan, Cypress, Odin-Elijah, and Johannah.

Arrangements will be private.
