Girl Scouts Summer Camps

Slate Statewide Open House

Girl Scouts of Connecticut will open its summer camps during the spring Open House Event on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 4 pm. All of the Girl Scout camps, except Clatter Valley Camp, will be open to the public and Girls Scouts encourages families to attend the event and discover the exciting programs designed for girls entering Grades 1–12.

The camp open houses will allow families to tour the facilities, meet with the camp directors and staff members, and learn about camp life. There are 11 day camps located throughout the state and three residential camps. A list of all the camps and their individual programs is located on the Girl Scouts of Connecticut website at www.gsofct.org. For more information about the Open House Event and for directions to the camp sites, call 800-922-2770, extension 3310 or email general@gsofct.org. Financial aid is available.

In addition to traditional arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, games, canoeing, tennis, horseback riding, and nature walks, Girl Scouts camps offer a variety of special interest programs such as Marvelous Mysteries where campers become scientists and learn chemistry magic; or Planet Protectors where girls learn ways to protect the planet while enjoying crafts created from recycled materials and playing ecologically based games; or Creative Campers, a program that lets girls design costumes, perform skits, and learn to draw comic strips.

While each camp offers its own personalized, age-appropriate programs, all of the Girl Scouts camps and programs are designed to encourage girls to dream, make friends, and create treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
