Olga H. Mikitich Saranotski, 99, of Newtown, beloved wife of the late John S. Saranotski, died peacefully April 21 at Bethel Health Care, with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport, June 6, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen Sakovich Mikitich.www.abriola.comTo leave an online condolence, visit

She graduated from Danbury High School and was a part of her family's famous "Danbury Bakery." Later, with lovely art skills, she became a photographer for Genungs Department Store in Danbury.

During World War II, she also worked as a nurse's aide in Danbury Hospital.

In 1956, the Saranotskis built a beautiful home in Trumbull, where Mr Saranotski worked for Sikorsky and taught at Norwalk Tech.

Mrs Saranotski was a founding member of the Nichols Garden Club and maintained beautiful vegetable gardens. She loved her church's senior group and experienced many fun times with them.

Survivors include her cherished daughter Nina Frankonis, and husband Richard, of Newtown; three cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Chang, and her husband Dr Robert Chang, Richard Frankonis, Jr, and John Frankonis, and his wife Wendy; four beautiful great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs Saranotski had one brother, Alexander, who predeceased her.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, April 27, at 11:30 am, directly in the Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 1540 East Main Street, Bridgeport, with Father Steven Belonick presiding. Interment will follow in the Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday, April 26, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Panahida service will take place at 4:30 pm, on Tuesday, in the funeral home.
