Summer Registration Begins

At NVCC

WATERBURY — Registration for summer classes at Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) is underway. The Records Office at NVCC will be accepting walk-in registrations through May 25 on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Most credit classes begin on Tuesday, May 29.

Summer courses being offered include “Business Organization,” “Composition,” “Art,” “Early Childhood Education,” “Elementary Statistics,” “Psychology,” “Java Programming,” “Photography,” “Microbiology,” and “Theatre Practicum I,” as well as many more high quality options.

NVCC will also offer a new course, called “Hip-Hop Dance.” This course is designed to introduce students to the influences of African, Caribbean and Latin dance styles on contemporary hip-hop dance. Using Horton modern dance exercises as well as incorporating jazz dance techniques, students will develop coordination and rhythm in accordance with the dancers’ physical placement.

Also, “CAI I,” an introductory course that uses AutoCAD 2000 software, and an advanced design course that utilizes ProEngineer software will be presented this summer.

New students can get a head start on their program, while more advanced students can reduce the time that it takes to earn their degree or certificate by taking a course or two in the summer for transfer to their four-year college or university.

NVCC is also accepting applications for fall enrollment. The college Web site provides current schedules and publications detailing program choices and application procedures.

For an application, call 203-575-8151 or for summer registration information, call 203-575-8011 or download the current summer schedule from the college’s Web site at www.nycc.commnet.edu.
