Elena Allmand Joins Julie’s Piano Workshop

Elena Allmand has joined the staff of Julie’s Piano Workshop.

A former resident of Darien, she moved to Newtown a year ago. Ms Allmand is a graduate of New York University and a former school music teacher in Norwalk.

At Julie’s Piano Workshop, she will be starting a unique program for young children to attend with their parents. In private, half-hour sessions she will present a step-by-step technique for musical exploration that unlocks the piano keyboard for young children. In this program, the parent provides the missing link between early melody/ movement classes and traditional piano pedagogy, she said.

Ms Allmand believes music is an essential element in child development and says that her program nurtures creativity through fun and exploration. The program builds a sound foundation for more formal piano lessons later on when the child is ready, she said.

In addition to teaching, Ms Allmand also enjoys performing at public and private events.

Julie’s Piano Workshop is located at 111 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center.
