Elementary Art Shows

To Highlight A Year Of Art

By Eliza Hallabeck

Some of Newtown’s elementary schools are busy preparing for their annual art show events, inviting parents, community members, and students to celebrate art.

Each year, art work created by students throughout the school year is put on display at Hawley School, Head O’ Meadow School, and Sandy Hook School. PTA volunteers and the school art teachers oversee student work being organized and put on display at each of the three schools.

As of Tuesday, April 26, Middle Gate reported not having a scheduled art night at the school.

At last year’s art shows, sculptures, paintings, self-portraits, and more lined the walls of each of the three elementary schools as parents and students walked the hallways pointing out their favorite works.

This year, Hawley is scheduled to hold its’ art night on May 5, 6 to 8 pm, Sandy Hook Elementary School is May 6 from 6 to 8 pm, and Head O’ Meadow is May 17 from 6 to 8 pm.
