Team In Training Recruits Volunteers

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (TNT) will hold a meeting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 5, at the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown to recruit volunteers to participate in marathons, swimming, and cycle events to raise money for the fight against blood cancer.

Team in Training, the world’s largest endurance sports training program, provides personalized coaching, group training and support, and the chance to meet new people and be part of a team. In addition to weekly training sessions under the guidance of a certified coach, TNT offers training events and clinics on nutrition, equipment, injury prevention and safety.

After four to five months of training, team members will be prepared to run or walk a marathon (26.2 miles), cycle a century (100 miles), or participate in a triathlon (swimming, running, and cycling).

The Fairfield County chapter is building teams to participate in events such as Westchester Triathlon, Hartford Marathon, Chicago Marathon, the newly introduced Nike 26.2 marathon, and the El Tour de Tucson 100-mile cycle event.

Since Team in Training begin in 1988, more than 200,000 participants have raised more than $470 million through TNT to help the society advance its mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. For additional TNT information, call the Fairfield County chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 203-967-8326 or visit www.teamintraining.org/fct.
