avv/gs set 4-30 #697859

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — The Hyde Collection’s board of trustees announces the appointment of Marijo Dougherty as interim director for the museum. Following Randal Suffolk’s recent announcement that he will resign his position as director effective the end of May, the Hyde’s executive committee began the search process for an interim director. The board of trustees gave formal approval at the board meeting on April 23 to hire Dougherty for the position.

The museum’s board has also approved the formation of a search committee, led by Bernard Brown, chairman of The Hyde Collection’s board of trustees, with members drawn from the board, staff and community. “We are extremely honored that Marijo will be joining The Hyde during this transitional stage. Marijo is the consummate museum professional and we can rest assured that we are in capable hands until a permanent director is chosen,” said Brown.

Dougherty is director emerita of the University Art Museum at SUNY Albany. She served as director of the SUNY Albany University Art Museum from 1994 to 2003 following five years as associate and then interim director. Dougherty has been recognized with numerous professional awards and appointments and has curated many exhibitions, including several international collaborations.

The Hyde Collection is at 161 Warren Street. For information, 518-792-1761 or www.hydecollection.org.
