Sandy Hook Cub Scout Pack 170 is inviting all boys entering first through fourth grade to join their Pack. Registration will take place on Wednesday, May 15, at Rauner Hall in Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook, from 6:30 to 8 pm.

In addition to registering new scouts, the Pack will also be reregistering current scouts for the 2013-14 Scout year. Registration is $55 (cash or check payable to Pack 170). For the optional subscription to Boys’ Life magazine, please add $20 ($12 if new to scouting).

New and returning scouts must also bring a completed Boy Scouts of America Annual Health & Medical Record form. For information about the form go to www.scouting.org; only Parts A and B are needed. Parents are also asked to remember their Scout’s insurance card. Scouts without a current form on file by September will not be permitted to participate in pack activities.

Adults are also asked to consider helping the pack. Any interested adults should contact Committee Chair John Gonski, 203-426-3011.

For additional information and questions regarding registration, contact Membership Chair Patrick Cooney, 203-270 7718.

Pack 70 Recruitment Night

Pack 70 is set to hold an ice cream social and information night at its last pack meeting of the school year on Monday, June 3, at 7 pm, in the Hawley School Gym, 29 Church Hill Road.

Prospective scouts and their families are welcome to join Pack 70 for ice cream and information on joining its pack.

Pack 570 To Kick Off Summer

St Rose of Lima Pack 570 is inviting interested Cub Scouts and their families to join the pack for its Fun Summer Kickoff Bike Rodeo, which is held every year the first Saturday after school gets out. The pack teaches participants bike skills, drills to improve skills, bike safety, and, of course, the rules of the road.

This year’s Bike Rodeo is set for Saturday, June 22, at 9 am. Helmets are required.

The location will be the back parking lot of Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street. Parents interested in learning more about it can e-mail MQueenan@yahoo.com.
