On May 13, Lisa Marie Sweeting passed away peacefully of natural causes at Danbury Hospital. She was born Lisa Marie Giallanza on July 31, 1978, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Thomas John Giallanza and Patricia Anne Manelski.

Lisa spent the first five years of her life in Dunwoody, Ga. She was a joyful child, who loved music and dancing. In 1983, the family moved to Westport, Connecticut. Lisa began playing the violin in 4th grade and continued to participate in the school symphony orchestra as well as the chorus through her graduation from Staples High School. On December 14, 2000, she graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of arts in broadcast management.

On October 1, 2004, she married Russell James Sweeting. Together they have three incredible children — Lily, Ryan, and Evelyn. As a very busy mother, Lisa continued to support other new moms as the regional president of the MOMS club — Moms Offering Moms Support.

Later she was employed by Saint Joseph’s School in Brookfield, as the admissions coordinator, and then as the office administrator at Saint Rose of Lima School in Newtown. More recently, she also served as the athletic director, which entailed scheduling and supervising sports at the school, including the basketball teams and track & field.

She is survived by her parents and her brothers, Tom Jr and Michael.

Lisa was loving, generous, outspoken, outgoing, energetic, and passionate. Her family loves camping and annual trips to the Outer Banks. Her last major trip was to London in the summer of 2023 with her family.

She and Russell raised three amazing children. The love she gave to her family, friends, and students will be her legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Rose of Lima School, 40 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470.
