NHS Marching Band, Color Guard Hosting Craft Fair

The Newtown High School Marching Band and Color Guard, in cooperation with the Newtown Lions Club, will host its craft fair on Saturday, May 29, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Canaan House and grounds at Fairfield Hills, rain or shine.

Proceeds will help offset the band and color guard’s cost of uniforms, props, and travel expenses.

The craft fair is a juried event with emphasis on high quality, original, and handmade crafts. Artisans from throughout the New England area will exhibit an impressive array of unique items, including wood, doll and baby clothing, handmade soaps, photo art, ceramics, and silver jewelry.

The Memorial Day weekend celebration will include the Great Pootatuck Duck Race, sponsored by the Newtown Lion’s Club, at 2 pm on the banks of the Pootatuck River in Sandy Hook. In addition, the Newtown Soccer Club will be sponsoring its annual soccer tournament in town. The day promises to have something for everyone, and the various sponsors encourage the community to support these events.

Admission to the fair is free and baked goods will be available for purchase throughout the day.
