The highly successful Rising Stars Summer Basketball League – sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department – will be back this year at the Treadwell Park courts. The league will open play the week of July 12, with games being played twice a week during the evenings.

Playoffs, clinics and an all-star game are also planned.

The league was created in 1999 by Newtown High School coaches John Quinn, Gregg Simon and Ken Good with the prospects of further developing the young basketball talent of Newtown in an effort to further enhance the prospects of the high school teams.

The league is open to all boys and girls heading into grades 7, 8 or 9. Each participant will receive a t-shirt with the high school logo on it. Just fill out the above form and mail it in (or drop it off at the Rec office) by June 12.
