Kenneth N. Rancourt

Kenneth N. Rancourt, 90, of Monroe, beloved husband of 68 years to Irene (Macey) Rancourt, died peacefully at his home on May 30, after a brief illness. He was born in Redstone, N.H., on January 18, 1927, the son of Mildred Emily (Smith) Rancourt and Albert J. Rancour.

In addition to his wife, his six children and their spouses,: Jan Czajkowski and Dave of Sandy Hook, Ken and Jane of Center Conway, N.H., James and Sharon of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael and Barb of Pownal, Vt., Paul of Conway, N.H., and Norman and Heather of Monroe, survive him. His brother, Albert G. Rancourt; and two sisters, Jeanette T. Rancourt and Theresa Rancourt, predeceased him.

Mr Rancourt graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport and then served in World War II as a staff sergeant in Italy. He worked at Avco Lycoming, retiring in 1985 after 33 years of holding the position of supervisor in the Research and Development Department.

When not working, Mr Rancourt enjoyed working in his garden, growing his Christmas trees, helping his neighbors, and hunting in New Hampshire and Montana. His greatest pleasure came from watching his grandchildren, Jessica, Jan-Marie, Andy, Jordan, Janelle, Rebecca, Lauren, and Madison, and recently his two great-grandchildren, grow into wonderful individuals. Mr Rancourt also enjoyed the family's home in Eaton, N.H., near where he grew up.

Family and friends will gather for calling hours on Thursday, June 8, at Spadaccino and Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike (on Route 111), Monroe, from 4 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, June 9, at 10 am, at St Stephens's Church, 6948 Main Street (on Route 25), Trumbull. Interment will be at St John's Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Road, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mr Rancourt's name to the American Legion Post 176, 235 Cutler's Farm Road, Monroe CT 06468; The Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org; or to Regional Hospice of Western CT at regionalhospicect.org - who the family is grateful for the support they gave Mr Rancourt and his family to be able to be in his home.
