The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library will be unable to accept any donated items from Monday, June 19 through Sunday, July 16.

During this temporary pause, Friends volunteers will be busy off-site with the 47th Annual Book Sale, to be held July 7-11 at Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane.

Friends volunteers will resume accepting donations on Monday, June 17, of new and gently used books, DVDs, CDs, LPs, jigsaw puzzles, video games and board games. Donations can be dropped inside the Donation Room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

“Any items dropped off while the Friends are off-site will be discarded, so we strongly urge anyone with a donation to hold onto it until the volunteers are back at the library on July 17,” said Book Sale Chair Denise Kaiser. “Your donations will help us rebuild our inventory after what we are sure will be a successful summer book sale.”

Donated items are used to raise money to support materials’ purchases, programs and other patron services at Newtown’s library. In addition to the Annual Summer Book Sale, the nonprofit group sponsors a Holiday Sale in December and runs The Little Book Store, which is open year-round on the second floor of the library.
