Track And Field Teams Compete In States

Newtown High School’s girls’ track and field team placed 10 among 23 schools to score points in the meet, and the NHS boys were 17th among 24 at the Class LL state championship meet, at Willowbrook Park in New Britain on May 30.

Norwich Free Academy, with 94 points, earned first in the girls’ meet.

Newtown scored 23 points. On the boys’ side, host New Britain came out on top with 85.50 points and Newtown scored 13.

Girls: 100 Meter Dash: 8. Reagan Cerney, 13.20. One point.

400: 4. Cerney, 58.41. Five points.

Pole Vault: 6. Jenna Calandro, 10-00. Three points.

Discus: 2. Micaela Nowacki, 118-06. Eight points; 3. Amy Anyoha, 114-07. Six points.

Boys: 1600: 3. Jake Feinstein, 4:22.61. Six points.

3200: 5. Feinstein, 9:34.92. Four points.

Discus: 6. Ralph Strocchia, 121-08. Three points.
