Marjorie M. Costa, 84, of Newtown died June 3 at Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care.

She was born in Westport on July 25,1939 and graduated from Staples High School in 1958. Marjorie worked in the automotive industry until she discovered her true passion, police work. She graduated from the Police Academy and spent many years in Westport as a special officer, traffic agent and assistant dog warden.

She was also a member of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed country dancing and spending time on her Hattertown Road farm with her little dog Ruger.

She was predeceased by her sister Betty Lapera. She is survived by a son, Gary Costa of Sandy Hook; a grandson, Ryan Costa; two nephews, Thomas Lapera and Micheal Paul Lapera; and a niece, Shannon Ermark.

There will be no services.
