To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone that attended our 3rd annual wine tasting on June 14th at the Sandy Hook Firehouse. We had a great turnout and it was a very successful event. We want to thank the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co. for allowing us to use their incredible space once again this year.

We also want to thank Kathy Mendes from Sandy Hook Wine and Liquor and all of her distributors for sponsoring the Wine and Beer Tasting. We also would like to thank everyone for all of the very generous donations to our silent auction, we really were able to put together some great packages for people to bid on.

One of the most popular parts of our “Taste of Sandy Hook” was the incredible food provided by all of the fine eateries in Sandy Hook, I want to give them each a shout out for their generosity because they each donated to the silent auction as well as donating the food, thank you so much to Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, The Villa Restaurant, Sandy Hook Deli & Catering, Figs Wood Fired Bistro, and Cover Two Sports Bar and Grill. Desserts were provided by Bakes and Cakes in Southbury and Biscotti etc. A very special thanks as well to John Voket for providing entertainment again this year, it is always appreciated.

Part of the proceeds raised at “Taste of Sandy Hook” will go to an annual scholarship SHOP has started in conjunction with the Newtown Scholarship Association for a Sandy Hook resident majoring in business. A donation will also be made to the Faith food pantry. The remainder will help us continue marketing efforts, operating expenses and other major events in Sandy Hook.
