Marjorie Frazer (Powell) Melanson, 82, of Bethel and formerly Sandy Hook, died June 14 at Danbury Hospital.hullfuneralservice.com.

She was born in Patterson, N.J., June 8, 1934, and was daughter of the late Rebecca N. (McConnell) and Alexander Powell. She trained to be a nurse at St Joseph's Hospital in Patterson, graduating in 1955. In her career as a registered nurse she helped others, and she worked at various hospitals and doctors' offices on both the East and West Coast. Mrs Melanson retired in 1999 and spent many an hour enjoying arts and crafts.

Her daughter, Priscilla G. Massman, and her husband Rick, of Bethel survive her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Danbury Animal Welfare Society, 147 Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, or to the Bethel Public Library, 189 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel CT 06801.
