To the Editor:www.rebekahfornewtown.com/meet-rebekah.

I have known Rebekah Harriman-Stites (who is running to represent the 106th District in Hartford) for nearly two years, but she is one of those people whom I feel I have known forever. Her affable, outgoing, compassionate nature is infectious. She also not only consistently comes up with innovative and original ideas, but she actually puts them into action and gets things done.

I first met Rebekah at a meeting of Newtown Forward, a grassroots, nonpartisan advocacy group that she founded in the fall of 2016 and that has enabled me to realize my goal of connecting with fellow Newtowners to work on a local level toward positive change. I gradually discovered that founding this amazing and important group is only one of Rebekah's many achievements.

Rebekah is currently vice-chair of the Newtown Board of Education. She owns her own business, a boutique fund-development firm focused on building the resources and capacity of nonprofit organizations and municipalities throughout the Northeast. She is a professional grant writer. Her accomplishments and relevant experience are too extensive to list given word-count limits, but you can enjoy learning more about her at

Rebekah is a doer. She has moved Newtown forward locally. It is now time for her to move Newtown - and all of Connecticut - forward in Hartford. Rebekah is one in a million. Let's get out in November and vote to elect her!
