A ‘GLIMPSE’ OF FIVE ARTISTS ON VIEW AT ULLA SURLAND GALLERY JULY 14 w/1 cut

avv/gs set 6-21 #704213

FAIRFIELD, CONN. — Ulla Surland~Gallery Eleven will present a group exhibition of five artists, “Glimpse,” on view July 14–August 18. An opening reception will be Saturday, July 14, from 6:30 to 9 pm.

“Glimpse” will showcase Mark Gleason’s oil paintings, Susan Halls’ clay sculpture, Tara McKiernan Kovach’s oil paintings, Eve Stockton’s reticulated photo images and Janis Melone’s collages.

Gleason’s representational images reveal a dreamlike and surreal imagination. His painterly texture and color lend an internal depth to his compositions.

British born, Halls is known for her inventive use of animal imagery in ceramic sculpture and mixed media drawings.

A Norwalk, Conn., painter, Kovach begins each work by applying intuitive marks to a surface. Her emotive abstract paintings recall stormy landscapes and sultry botanical structures.

Stockton’s art career evolved from a background of architecture. Her work spans many media including printmaking, painting, sculpture and manipulated photo.

Melone attended Paer’s School of Art and design and has used the skills that she acquired in various forms from fine art making to catalog design, illustration, furniture design and interior design.

The gallery is at 11 Unquowa Road. For information, 203-259-1572.
