A group of health and wellness experts will host a Community Conversation on Friday, June 28, at 6:30 pm, at Edmond Town Hall. The free event will focus on improving health through relationships.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how to take control of their health and hear tips on how to lose weight, feel more energy, deal with health issues, as well as find balance, manage stress, and feel happier.

The event will take place in the Alexandria Room of the former town hall building, at 45 Main Street.

It will begin with light refreshments, sponsored in part by BD Provisions of Newtown and EP Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching. A panel discussion moderated by Meghan Salonia, founder and local content creator of newtownmoms.com, will then follow, featuring Carrie Amos, Emanuela Palmares, and Gregg Roberts.

Ms Amos is a devoted wife, mother of three children kids, licensed therapist, and wellness warrior, who has spent the better part of her career leading not-for-profit organizations and working with clients in private clinical practice.

Ms Amos does not believe one-size-fits all, especially when it comes to pursuing wellness. She looks to equip her clients with tools, tips, and strategies in order for them to make positive and long-lasting changes. Her goal is to create and provide a safe space where clients can dig deep and sort through emotions, feelings, and thoughts as they begin to overcome, live, and thrive.

She works with individuals and couples and facilitates wellness groups for most age groups. She develops tailored plans with clients that have a start and a finish (i.e. she does not subscribe to a therapy forever relationship).

Ms Amos earned a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science from Manhattanville College and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Post-graduate certifications include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Psychotherapy, leadership certifications, and she is a requested speaker and workshop facilitator for organizations, faith groups, and public and private schools.

Emanuela Palmares is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach; mom; wife; caregiver; editor; and founder of EP Health Coaching, a private integrative nutrition health coaching practice focused on helping women from all walks of life find health, happiness, and balance.

Her passion for health and wellness is the result of two key ingredients. Her first came following her own struggles with multiple diets and workout regiments while balancing family, work, and community.

Her second key is the training she received at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, more than 100 dietary theories, and studied with the world’s top health and wellness experts, including Andrew Weil, MD, director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Mark Hyman, MD, founder of The UltraWellness Center; and Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating.

With that knowledge, she developed an effective health coaching protocol to break unhealthy habits by creating desirable healthier ones, helping women find happiness and balance in the process.

Ms Palmares’s mantra is: “You are what you eat and much more. Just dieting won’t do the trick.”

Gregg Roberts, INHC, is the author of Progress Over Perfection: 16 Simple Steps to Reclaim Your Health and Wellbeing, and is president and founder of SimpleWisdom Wellbeing Solutions. He has appeared on NBC, CNN, and E! as a guest for various news shows.

He also co-founded the Blue Velvet Boxing Club, an award-winning exclusive boxing gym that catered to celebrities and Wall Street executives located in the Flatiron district of New York City. Mr Roberts has been an owner-operator of multiple businesses, from fitness to food, ranging from 20 to 200 employees, throughout the greater New York City region.

He enjoys serving on a variety of different boards, including Stand Together Make A Difference (STMAD), a not-for-profit coalition that’s aim is to help prevent substance abuse and addiction through education and awareness. He is also a mentor for at-risk youth.

Mr Roberts earned his BA from University of California, Santa Barbara, and attended the OPM program at Harvard Business School. He is a graduate of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City.

He is actively involved in the health and wellness field; enjoys boxing workouts, playing tennis, and hiking; and is the father of three children.

A Q&A session will follow the panel discussion. Raffles and networking will conclude the evening.

Reservations are requested and can be done by e-mail to info@newtownmoms.com or by visiting the Facebook Event page (search for Improving Our Health Through Our Relationships).
