GUYETTE & SCHMIDT SUMMER DECOY AUCTION

BOSTON, MASS. — The auction firm of Guyette and Schmidt, Inc of Saint Michaels, Md., will conduct its annual summer decoy auction at the Seaport Hotel here, Friday and Saturday, July 27–28, and will feature decoys from all over the United Sates and Canada.

There will be a Buy, Sell and Swap meet in one of the function rooms at the Seaport July 26–28. The swap meet, which features 75 booths of decoys and related items, is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

The decoy auction, which has a projected gross of $2.8 million, is open to the public and will include more than 500 hunting decoys, waterfowl paintings, fish decoys and plaques and related accessories.

Decoys by famous carvers such as the Ward Brothers, Nathan Cobb, Jr, Charles Perdew and Robert Elliston will be sold with prices ranging from $100 to more than $100,000. Many New England decoys will be sold, including examples by Elmer Crowell, East Harwich, Mass.; Gus Wilson, South Portland, Maine; George Boyd, Seaford, N.H.; and Joseph Lincoln, Hingham, Mass.

This sale features decoys from the collections of Robert and Pauline White, Joe French, David Galliher and Gene and Linda Kangas. The Seaport Hotel is on Seaport Lane in South Boston’s waterfront district.

Guyette and Schmidt, Inc’s next decoy sale will be November 7–8 in Easton, Md., in conjunction with the Easton Waterfowl Festival. The consignment deadline for that sale is September 14.
