Neil C. Aiello, Sr.

Neil C. Aiello, Sr, 93, of Danbury, husband of the late Ann (Silvia) Aiello, died on the evening of July 10, at Regional Hospice Center for Comfort Care and Healing. A Danbury native and lifelong resident, Mr Aiello was born December 30, 1922, to Carrie (Barker) and Dominic Aiello.

Mr Aiello is survived by two sons, Neil C. Aiello II and his wife, Susan, of Sandy Hook, and Gene E. Aiello and his wife, Jennifer, of Big Spring, Texas; a daughter, Nadine Aiello McMillan and her husband, Daniel, of Brookfield; four grandchildren; a great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School.

A World War II US Army veteran, he served in the European Campaign, separating with the rank of master sergeant.

In early years, Mr Aiello was a hatter with the former Mallory Hat Co. and in later years was employed at the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury in the administration department, retiring in 1978.

Mr Aiello was a member of the Catholic War Veterans of Danbury, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of AARP-Chapter 1067, NARFE-Chapter 2069 (National Association of Active Retired Federal Employees), and a member of St Gregory the Great Parish, Danbury.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, from 5 to 7 pm, in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury.

Graveside funeral services and burial with military honors will take place in St Peter Cemetery, Section 23, Danbury on Friday, July 15, at 11 am, with Deacon William D. Murphy officiating.
