Children preparing to attend kindergarten in the fall gathered in the C.H. Booth Library's Story Time Room for a special program designed specifically for them, called "Ready, Set, Kindergarten!"Classes are scheduled for every Tuesday at 10 am in the C.H. Booth Library's Story Room, until August 7. For more information, visit chboothlibrary.org.

Former elementary school teacher Randi Rote warmly greeted each child as they entered the room, some of whom had tears and trepidation about being away from their parents in a class setting for the first time.

She eased their fears by engaging them in questions about themselves and introducing them to other students who will be attending the same elementary school as them later this year. With new friends surrounding them, the children became more confident and began to interact with one another and forget their worries.

The students selected their favorite spots on the decorated children's carpet - some sat on the letter of their first name, others sat on ones with their favorite picture - and giggled, talking with their neighbors seated next to them.

Lunch by Denise Fleming. The children sat cross-legged, enthralled with the colorful images, and participated in answering the questions Ms Rote asked about the context of the story.

Once everyone was seated, Ms Rote began the program by reading the picture book

Each week, Ms Rote will be teaching children a new age-appropriate literacy skill at "Ready, Set, Kindergarten!"
