CCT Artist Fellowship

Applications Available

HARTFORD — The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT) Artist Fellowship program provides monetary support designed to encourage the continuing artistic development of Connecticut’s finest creative artists who are seriously committed to their art form and who have a demonstrated history of professional activity in the state. The program allows artists to devote full attention to the creation of new work and to further their careers.

The Artist Fellowship program provides grants in the amounts of $5,000 and $2,500 to encourage the continuing development of Connecticut’s finest creative artists who are seriously committed to their art form and who have a demonstrated history of professional activity in the state. Applicants must have lived and worked in Connecticut for a minimum of one year at the time of application and currently be full-time residents of the state.

Students who are currently enrolled full-time in degree-granting institutions are not eligible. Prior Fellowship recipients who have received an award within the past four years are also ineligible.

Twenty to 35 awards are made each year. Artistic categories alternate every year and choreographers, poets, playwrights, fiction writers, composers and film/video artists applying in even-numbered years.

(Visual artists working in the disciplines of digital/cyber art, crafts, painting/works on paper, photography, sculpture/installation will be invited to apply next year.)

The Fiscal Year 2007 Artist Fellowship applications are now available for artists working in the disciplines of choreography, playwriting, fiction writing, poetry, music composition and film/video. The deadline is September 12, 2006 (hand delivered or postmarked).
