Occupation: I'm a veterinarian at the Newtown Animal Medical Center here in town.
Occupation: Iâm a veterinarian at the Newtown Animal Medical Center here in town.
Family: My boyfriend, Damian Matera, and I live in Danbury. Both of my parents live in Redding, my twin sister, Kristina, also lives in Danbury, and I have a younger brother, Steven, who is in the Army at Fort Riley in Kansas.
Pets: I have a 2-year-old cat named Samantha who is my darling, dearest, best friend. We also have several reptiles, chameleons and an anole, and we have fish.
How long have you been in Newtown? I grew up in Redding and I live in Danbury now, but I have been at the medical center for a year, since July of 2007.
What do you like to do in your free time? Iâm in the middle of doing house renovations, so that takes up a lot of my time. I like to do household stuff. Iâm a real Suzy Homemaker. I like to spend time boating with friends on Candlewood Lake, I like to exercise, and Iâm an avid reader.
Do you have a favorite book? I bounce around reading books, but right now Iâm reading books by Caleb Carr. Theyâre sort of historical fiction and kind of a murder mystery.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love San Diego. I was out there a few months ago with my boyfriend. It has beautiful weather, a very friendly atmosphere, and fun in the sun that you just canât go wrong with. The San Diego Zoo is phenomenal. We spent seven hours there.
What is the best thing about Newtown? I really like the people around here. They remind me of Redding, and Iâve even run into high school classmates who live in Newtown now. People in Newtown are very friendly and care a lot for their animals, are willing to listen to advice, and follow through.
If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? I guess to the past. Iâd like to have known my parents when they were younger and see how they grew up.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Probably âDo unto others as you would have them do unto you.â I have faith in everybody until they give me reason not to.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? Sâmores, definitely. I made a whole bunch of them this weekend. That, and sleeping in, both of which I donât indulge in very often.
