To The Editor:

On August 9 there will be an important Republican primary election for Judge of Probate for our town (Newtown), Bethel, Redding, and Ridgefield. I am writing to encourage you to join me in voting for Patrick Walsh.

Prior to moving to Newtown a few years ago, I lived in Ridgefield for nearly 14 years. Many of those years I had the good fortune to have had the Walsh family as next-door neighbors. Patrick Walsh was born and raised in Ridgefield, and he and his wonderful wife Kathleen are raising their children there.

I was moved to write this endorsement given the person I have come to know over the last ten years. Patrick is of exemplary character and very qualified for the position of probate judge. This is true certainly from a professional standpoint, as his commitment to our community is well documented and his legal expertise thoroughly demonstrated. It is also true from a personal standpoint. His temperament and judgment are the result of an enriched and extended family experience that will contribute greatly to the position of probate judge. Patrick is one of seven children and has four very cool children of his own. Families going through the probate process can count on Patrick's understanding to navigate the complexities of family relationships, his wisdom and his intellect to render fair and considered decisions and importantly, and his compassion during the process.

I would urge Newtown to support Patrick Walsh for probate judge in the Republican primary on August 9.
