Amelia LoGrasso

Amelia (Emilia) LoGrasso, 99, died on August 8, at The Osborn in Rye, N.Y. She was born in The Bronx, N.Y., on July 2, 1917, to Filomena and Carl Pellitteri. She lived in Brooklyn and Flushing, N.Y., and for 51 years, in Manhasset, Long Island.

Her two daughters and their spouses, Caryl and William Timmel of Sandy Hook and Joanne and John Timmel of Bedford, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Pellitteri, survive her. A granddaughter, Caryl-Lyn Slane, predeceased her in 2001. A sister, Geraldine Chiarello, also predeceased her.

She married Dr Anthony LoGrasso, a dentist, in June, 1943, in St Patrick's Cathedral. Dr LoGrasso predeceased her after 57 years of marriage.

Mrs LoGrasso graduated from Hunter College and received a master's in French from St John's University. She worked in her family's interior decorating business in Brooklyn and, for 28 years, was a foreign language teacher at John Adams High School in Ozone Park, N.Y. She was a member of Hempstead Golf and Country Club for 56 years. An avid golfer, cook, bridge player, and linguist, Mrs LoGrasso traveled throughout Europe speaking three foreign languages.

Mrs LoGrasso will be remembered for her love of family, love for music and dancing, but especially for her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will miss her hosting holidays and parties, but especially her ability to help everyone be happy.

Her family will receive friends at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, N.Y., on Thursday, August 11, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 12, at 10 am, at St Patrick's Church, Bedford, N.Y. Entombment will follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, N.Y.
