Campers in Parks & Recreation's Paint, Draw, & More camp worked for the week of July 30 to August 3 on a range of artistic creations, all based on the week's theme of "comics."paintdrawmore.com

The camp was offered through Parks & Recreation by a program with the same name as the camp, owned by Susan Jackson, and taught by Heather Bennett.

According to Ms Bennett the campers started the week by creating comics. Art projects after that were inspired by the comics, like creating stuffed "plushies" of their super heroes. Campers also made paper cutout cities or environments for their characters.

.Ms Jackson said Paint, Draw, & More has been offering camps and programs in Newtown for roughly ten years. It is also set to offer a program in the fall through Newtown Parks & Recreation. The fall classes for ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 13 will be held Wednesday afternoons, according to Ms Jackson. More information about classes being offered is available on the program's website

At the end of the weeklong camp, an art room at Newtown Middle School, where the camp was held, was decorated for an art show. Parents were invited to see all of the works of art created during the camp.
