Jean Leonard, of Jean Leonard Wealth Management, and Extreme Fitness Martial Arts invite the community to attend a Summer Bash to benefit cancer research. The event will take place Saturday, August 29, from 2:30 to 5 pm, at Extreme Fitness Martial Arts, within Plaza South at 266 South Main Street.

Jean Leonard is the president and chief strategist at Jean Leonard Wealth Management. A widowed mother of three young children, she has a passion for helping families through crisis by fostering financial stability.

Recently, Ms Leonard had her own uphill battle with breast cancer. After her initial diagnosis, Ms Leonard immediately began treatment. She conquered chemotherapy, the loss of her hair, her strength, and a life-changing transition.

On September 19, Ms Leonard will be embarking on a two-day, 150 mile cycling adventure as part of the 2015 Ride to Conquer Cancer. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care made possible through Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals.

“I can proudly say with the support of great doctors, my friends and my loving family, I have come out stronger and cancer-free,” Ms Leonard wrote in part on her fundraising page. “I want to do something to show how strong I’ve become and help others become as strong as I feel.”

As a team captain, Ms Leonard has a goal of $2,500 to raise before her ride. She is currently collection donations online to support her ride.

To help raise money for Ms Leonard’s ride, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts invites the community to attend a fun summer bash at their facilities on August 29. This event is themed as “Teen Beach Movie meets West Side Story.” Guests are invited to dress up in the 60s or just attend in casual clothing.

There will be water balloons and other games, dancing, sing-alongs and face painting. There will also be a bake sale and a raffle to support Ms Leonard’s ride.

Admission is free. Proceeds will be raised through donations.

For additional information contact Ms Leonard at 203-426-8294.

A special event planned for August 29 at Extreme Fitness Martial Arts will allowe all ages to enjoy games, dancing, sing-alongs and more, while helping Newtown resident and cancer survivor Jean Leonard raise funds for The 2015 Ride To Conquer Cancer.
