Ukrainian Festival

Returning To Dodgingtown

The 29th Annual Ukrainian Festival will take place on Sunday, August 27, at Paproski’s Tree Farm.

The event – once again open to the public free of charge – is being sponsored by the Holy Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bridgeport.

The day will begin at 11 am with the Celebration of the Divine Liturgy in the garden, led by Father Stepan Yanowski. Throughout the  day there will be plenty of picnic style foods and Ukrainian food including pierogie, stuffed cabbage, borscht, Ukrainian pastry, poppy seed and nut rolls, and homemade donuts. There will also be Ukrainian dancing and singing, games, hay rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, volleyball, and arts and crafts on display and for sale.

Christia Horbaty will be demonstrating how to decorate Easter eggs in the Ukrainian style.

There will also be a short dedication program for the 15 years of Ukrainian freedom from Russia.

The festival will take place rain or shine. Plenty of off-street parking is available.

The farm is at 5 Hattertown Road, just off Route 302 in the Dodgingtown section of Newtown. Call Olga Paproski at 426-4017 or the church hall, 203-384-9790, for directions and additional information.
