Special Dinner And Auction  Event Will Help Children’s Aid Group

NEW PRESTON — Healing the Children-Northeast is planning a special fundraising event to be sponsored by and held at Oliva Café on Monday, September 5, from 6 until 9 pm.

Chef Riad Aamar and Joanna Lawrence will present a fresh dinner menu on the lovely gardened terrace at Oliva Café. A complement of wine tastings from Chris Jeans of Casa Bacchus in Litchfield will accompany the meal.

The special early evening event will include an eclectic silent auction including select pieces from well known local artisans and gifts donated by Litchfield County merchants.

Guests will meet and mingle with some of the area’s most interesting and dynamic international development workers as well as prominent local residents and special guests.

Healing the Children-Northeast (HTC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that arranges for donated medical care for children in need, locally and from around the world. Since 1981 its International Inbound Program has helped thousands of children in developing countries receive medical care they need and deserve.

HTC is working with over 20 children who have come to the US from countries such as Ecuador, Eritrea, Honduras, Nigeria and Vietnam to receive life-saving surgeries without cost. HTC arranges for doctors and hospitals in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts to treat children whose families are the poorest of the poor, and whose native countries lack the technology needed to treat their specialized conditions. Visit www.htcne.org for information.

Tickets for the fundraising dinner are $75 each. Additional information and reservations are available by contacting Faye Barry at 860-355-1828.
