New Moms: Moms of Newborns to Walkers, 10 weeks, beginning on Wednesday, September 19. There will be two sessions – 9 to 10 am and 10:30 to 11:30 am.

Moms of 1 to 2 year olds, 10 weeks, beginning on Thursday, September 20, from 10 to 11 am.

Both groups will meet at NYS and are free. Space is limited so please call to register.

Support Group for Parents of Children with Learning Differences. Whether youir child has a special learning need, physical challenge or chronic illness, emotional challenge or ADD, this group offers support and skill building. Meetings are Monday mornings bimonthly, 9:30 to 11 am, starting September 17. For more information, call the NYS office.

Fathers’ Nights begin once a month on September 24 from 7:30 to  9 pm. Fathers have special relationships with their children. Come find out why these evenings get RAVE REVIEWS!

 

Youth Programs

SibShops starting – free support group for siblings of children with special needs. Meeting the second Thursday of every month, starting September 13, 5:30 to 7:30 pm, pizza served. Please call Newtown Youth Services to register.

Super Sitters

Babysitting classes: The first session of the year will begin on Thursday, October 4, and continue on October 11, 18, 25, and November 1. The second session will be accelerated and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, December 4, 6, 11, 13, and 18. The classes meet from 4 to 5:30 pm and the cost is $35. These classes tend to fill quickly so please call to register as soon as possible.

4-H

Elementary School – Monday from 3:15 to 4:30 pm.

Middle School – Wednesday from 4 to 5:15 pm.

Please call for information. As long as the Youth Garden grows – 4H will be meeting there (on the grounds of Fairfield Hills). Call to register or for information.

Mind Body Spirit Returns

Students in grades 6-8 will develop flexibility, balance, concentration and awareness emphasizing kindness to self and others. Using elements of Pa Kua, T’ai chi and other systems Master Ch’en will tailor the class to meet the abilities and interests of the students.

Classes begin on Monday, September 24, and continue on October 1, 15, 22, 29, November 5 and 19. This is a free program presented by Master CH Chen and Deborah Chen. Please call to register.

 

New Children of Divorse support groups:

For grades 6-8, Mondays 6 to 7 pm.

For elementary students, Wednesdays 5 to 6 pm.

Help your children through this emotional time in their lives. Groups begin the week of September 24. Please call to register.

New I Am Beautiful

Girls are cordially invited to attend two-part evening workshops each month to discuss and learn about issues that are important to them.

Grades 6-8, Tuesday, October 2 and October 10.

Grades 9-12, Thursday, October 4 and October 11.

6:30 to 8 pm at Youth Services. Call to register.

Youth Group Meetings

The HS YAB will meet next on Monday, September 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

The MS YAB’s first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 25, at Newtown Youth Services, from 4 to 5 pm.

NYCAAP meets on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 41-A Main Street, unless noted. To register, or for further information, please call 270-4335.
