Tribute To Leonard Cohen,

Phil Ochs At Love & Knishes

SOUTHBURY — Diverse musical programs will wrap up the summer season and delight guests during upcoming Love & Knishes Lunch programs. Adults from many neighboring towns will enjoy good cheer, live music, and delicious food catered by Chef Mo Jalil of Cheshire’s award-winning Jordan Caterers.

Lunch is served at noon in the social hall at the Jewish Federation, 444 Main Street North.

On September 5, singer/guitarist Willie Nininger will be joined by Jan Scruggs in a tribute to Leonard Cohen and Phil Ochs, two Jewish singer-songwriters who were very influential during the 1960s and 1970s. While both very popular, these two artists had divergent songwriting styles, choice of subject matter and methods of presentation.

Leonard Cohen penned the Judy Collins classic, “Suzanne,” and Phil Ochs was a forerunner of the folk protest movement.

Lunch reservations should be made by noon Monday for that week’s program. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested lunch donation of $7.50 for adults age 60 and better.

For reservations, call 203-267-3177.
