Marion R. (MacCallum) Orban, 69, of Marine Street, Thomaston, died suddenly September 3 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Edward J. Orban. The Orbans were longtime Newtown residents and she was a past member of the Sandy Hook Fire and Rescue Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs Orban was born January 25, 1937, in Erie, Penn., to Malcolm and Sarah E. (Whitley) MacCallum.

She was raised in Fairfield, and graduated from West Liberty State College in West Virginia where she obtained an associate’s degree in liberal arts. Mrs Orban worked as a graphics artist. She previously worked at The Bee Publishing Company in Newtown for 25 years. Presently, she was employed by Allied Health at Green Manor as a health administrator.

She was active in the parish at St Peter Trinity Episcopal Church in Thomaston and was on the Vestry. She was the secretary for the Episcopalian Church Women.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Susan Normandin and her husband, Keith, of Thomaston, and Lee Volpe of Thomaston; a brother, Bruce MacCallum of Fairfield; a sister, Elizabeth Pelletier of Shelton; two grandchildren, Eric and Emily Normandin of Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs Orban was predeceased by a brother, Malcolm MacCallum.

Funeral services were held September 6 at St Peter Trinity Episcopal Church, Thomaston. Memorial contributions may be made to St Peter Trinity Episcopal Church, 160 Main Street, Thomaston CT 06787.
