Nils Steve Svensen

Nils Steve Svensen, 82, of Ansonia, died peacefully, September 5, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by family. Born January 17, 1931, in New Britain, he was the son of Linda (Anderson) and Sven Svensen.

He is survived by one brother, Sven Svensen, and his wife Verna, of Newtown; three daughters, Lisa Milazzo of Ansonia, Ingrid Debish, and her husband Michael, of Port St Lucie, Fla., and Linda Davies, and her husband Richard, of Milford; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. His beloved wife of 48 years, Sigrid (Heland) Svensen; and one sister, Ethel Sullivan, predeceased Mr Svensen.

He was employed by Schick Safety Razor for 35 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a longtime member of the Hiram Lodge Order of Masons.

He loved his family, his Swedish Heritage, golfing, fishing, and traveling — especially his annual trips to St Maarten.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind and compassionate care at Shady Knoll Health Center, Griffin Hospital, and Masonicare at Home. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Michelle for her devoted and loving care.

A funeral service will take place Friday, September 13, at 11 am, at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will follow with full Military Honors inside Rose Hill Memorial Park. There will be a calling hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 am.
