Masonicare Home Health & Hospice and Masonicare at Newtown will host a bereavement support program for the community led by the renowned Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv. The program, entitled “Post Traumatic Growth,” will be presented Thursday evening, September 26, from 6 to 8, at Edmond Town Hall Theater, 45 Main Street.

In his presentation, Dr Doka will explore how significant losses can transform our lives.

He explains, “While we may have little choice about the loss and ensuing grief, we do retain choice on whether we will grow up or down as a result of the loss. In this presentation, we consider how to draw upon our inner and outer strengths as we cope with devastating loss.”

Dr Doka, an ordained Lutheran minister, is a professor of gerontology at the Graduate School of the College of New Rochelle and senior consultant to the Hospice Foundation of America. An expert on grief and grieving, Dr Doka has lectured worldwide on the topic and has keynoted conferences throughout North America and in Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

A prolific author and editor, Dr Doka has written numerous books dealing with the many challenges adults and children face when coping with the death of a loved one.

Although there is no charge to participate in the program, preregistration is required. Call the Masonicare HelpLine at 888-679-9997 by Monday, September 23, to reserve your space. Refreshments will be provided.

For questions or additional information, call Nancy Petrosky, supervisor of hospice clinical services for Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, at 203-775-0675.
